New LXI Switch Modules Maximize Test Flexibility

4:42 AM, Posted by vtiinstruments, No Comment

VTI Instruments is pleased to announce the release of three new high-density switch modules, the EX1200-3164, -4128 and -6216. They further enhance the signal switching capabilities of VTI’s EX1200 Precision Switch, Measure and Control family of products.

“The addition of these modules further expands the flexibility and versatility that engineers demand to meet ever-changing test system requirements,” said Jon Semancik, VTI’s Director of Marketing. “The scalable EX1200 provides cost-effective core platform capabilities without sacrificing performance or signal integrity.”

The EX1200 is the highest density switching platform available and the only LXI Class A subsystem on the market. Test engineers can use the EX1200 modules for applications ranging from half rack 1U to full rack 3U while maintaining signal integrity across multiple modules. The EX1200 includes a full-featured 6.5 digit DMM, precision analog and digital I/O modules, and an internal analog expansion bus.

The -3164 provides 16 independent (1 x 4) multiplexers that can be reconfigured under software control to build up to a single 64-channel multiplexer. This configuration offers flexibility when multiplexing various inputs to a common resource. The -4128 is a (4 x 128) crosspoint multiplexer that allows multiple resources to be shared by multiple output channels. The -6216 enables high-density RF switching capable of supporting two 16-channel 1 GHz multiplexers.

The new modules allow users to build very flexible switching subsystems that span DC to light. The simplified software infrastructure of the EX1200 allows path-level switching through an IVI switch interface. The robust soft front panel enables direct monitoring and control without the addition of third-party software

New DAC Express Release Supports EX1200 LXI Switch/Measure and Control Subsystem

2:49 AM, Posted by vtiinstruments, No Comment

VTI Instruments Corporation announced today the latest release of its DAC Express “Set Up and Run” software, which has new features that support its EX1200 series switch/measure and control platform. When combined with any EX1200 mainframe, this competitively-priced turnkey solution can be used to satisfy a wide range of data acquisition requirements.
”The EX1200 series provides a powerful combination of LXI Class A precision synchronization and high-density signal switching, measurement and control modules that service a variety of data acquisition applications,” said Business Development Manager Tom Sarfi. “Our latest DAC Express upgrade delivers an easy-to-use programming-free environment that allows engineers to begin collecting and analyzing data within minutes.”
DAC Express 3.5 enables users to monitor and record temperature, voltage, current, resistance, frequency, and period measurements without any programming required. When used with the Ethernet/LXI-based EX1200, this software offers the ability to select from a flexible set of alarm conditions. For example, designated personnel worldwide can be notified via email when critical test data exceeds its limits.

EX1200 relays and analog/digital output can also be controlled by alarm events to drive devices that are outside the system. With DAC Express 3.5, users can construct virtual (calculated) channels with a combination of multiple inputs. They can also create virtual channels that provide the flexibility to generate events only when multiple input conditions have been satisfied.
Modular and flexible, the EX1200 offers the simplicity of Ethernet connectivity and can monitor and record over 450 channels in a single rack U mainframe. The intuitive DAC Express graphical interface allows users to quickly set up EX1200 scan sequences, customize displays, and export acquired data to Excel or MATLAB.

New VXIbus Modules Enable Customization and Increased Flexibility of ATE Systems

VTI Instruments Corporation announced today the release of three new modules for use on the VXIbus platform. The SMP3620, SMP3625 and SMP7000 increase the flexibility of VTI’s popular SMIP product family by including analog output (0 – 35 V) and custom breadboard design capabilities.
The SMIP series’ ability to mix and match signal switching and analog output in a modular VXI architecture is a unique feature that is unmatched by similar platforms. The new modules offer increased flexibility for test system designers by adding custom development options on a COTS platform and high-density digital-to-analog converters suitable for testing avionics subassemblies.“VTI’s SMIP series has set the standard for modular, high-density switching in demanding mil/aero applications that range from DC to light,” said Tom Sarfi, Business Development Manager. “Because of the SMIP’s modular architecture, multiple functions can be accommodated in either one- or two-slot carriers. These new modules bring increased functionality to the SMIP product family that can further optimize system footprint and lower overall costs.”

The SMP3620 is a high-density digital-to-analog converter with 24 channels per plug-in with programmable outputs from 0 – 35 V DC. The SMP3625 provides 16 channels of 70 V peak-to-peak 400 Hz output. The SMP7000 is a breadboard with an interface to the VXIbus that allows engineers to easily add custom circuits to their system designs. For more information, visit: http://www.vtiinstruments.com/SMIP.aspx.

New Sound Quality Software Helps Minimize Noise Levels

2:44 AM, Posted by vtiinstruments, No Comment

VTI Instruments Corporation is pleased to announce a new software solution that enhances the acoustic acquisition capabilities of its precision NVH/DSA products. m+p international has released SO Analyzer Revision 3.3, the latest version of its real-time software tool for noise and vibration measurement, analysis and reporting – in the field or in the lab.

The user-friendly SO Analyzer 3.3 features sound quality and sound playback modules. When combined with VTI’s hardware, these modules can assist in the reduction of noise levels from sources including automobiles, household appliances, and commercial airplanes. Sound playback also provides engineers with additional indicators for milestones and changes during testing. The Sound Quality Module displays functions of loudness that can be viewed as 2D, 3D or spectrograms for further analysis.
“For many years, VTI has provided world-class hardware solutions for the sound and vibration test industries that deliver the highest degree of data integrity,” said Chris Gibson, VTI Business Development Manager. “This latest release of SO Analyzer ensures that engineers working in noise reduction have a powerful set of software tools that facilitate data analysis, playback and display.”

SO Analyzer supports the following VXIbus modules from VTI: VT1432B, VT1433, VT1434, VT1435 and VT1436. The software supports all native sample frequencies from 1024 Hz to 102.4 kHz, input modes including AC/DC floating or grounded, and a user-selectable ICP source on each channel. VTI’s EX2500 LAN card or the IEEE-1394 Firewire board can function as the computer interface. SO Analyzer runs on Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista.
Additional features include standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis, which have been added to the value table functions. A new Project Catalog Utility is now available in the File menu to help organize and manage large data quantities. A new “Group by Function” option provides even greater flexibility in how saved data is organized at the end of the measurement run.
